Life in Server 32, it seems, settled down for rs

This was not to last. Directed by Redsteel136, a more junior party member, a small group of coupmakers scrabbled for management of the authorities.

With Redsteel136 as the new General Secretary of the party, the communists pursued a strategy of market reforms to build a powerful economy. Funding the state from the proceeds of the sale of high-level items, Server 32 was a controlling force.

In a screen of commendable anti-imperialist solidarity between socialists in the imperial core and colonised peoples, General Secretary Redsteel136 acknowledged the digital island's right to national liberation. Administration of the island has been handed over to some Karamjan clan who've, sadly, gone unrecorded in history.

Life in Server 32, it seems, settled down for a time following the turmoil of the civil war. However, measures implemented in late 2007 by the developers of RuneScape to control real-world money trading had put a devastating chain reaction in motion. Jagex, the company that produces RuneScape, had to counteract the problem of virtual marketplaces such as eBay allowing the sale of in-game items for money. To be able to prevent players in-game from handing over precious items for nothing, a very clear indicator that payment was received in US Dollars instead of Gielinorian Gold Pieces, Jagex put the costs of in-game things at fiat values. These items were then required to trade for a number of golden pieces within a fixed range below or above that fiat value. That value could change up or down since things were exchanged, but it might only increase or reduction by a limited amount over a given interval.

The effects of this dastardly economic imperialism from the capitalist running dogs at Jagex were devastating to Server 32's workers' state. The unbelievably rare, exceptionally sought-after things such as colourful paper Party Hats or the (inexplicably priceless) Half Full Jugs of Wine had experienced their fiat values put orders of magnitude lower than their market worth. Items which had sold for billions of gold pieces were impossible to exchange --and the economy imploded since the communist economy had been set by the economy reforms of General Secretary Redsteel136 on these items.
